Tips for Preparing Your Web Pages for Searching: Other Details

At the risk of stating the obvious, we address here a few details that
separate the pros from the mere mortals.
Fully Linked Pages
It is important that there be some "path" via hyperlinks from your
home page to every page you want indexed. This is because the search
engine robots only know about your home page. All other pages they
discover by following the hyperlinks from the home page. What if a
page is accessible by a number of "paths?" The robot keeps a list of
all the URLs it has seen before, so it doesn't index anything twice.
Example: My home page,
http://www.alma.com/staff/hin"> gets indexed because the following
path exists from my company's home page:
Spell Check Your Pages
A search "printer cartridges" is not going to find your page if you have spelled
it "pirnter catridges." Spell check your pages.
